♥ Beaches ♥
We feel that one of the most stunning and isolated beaches of the Algarve is our local beach of Figueira (pictured above). It can only be reached on foot by a beautiful path under dappled sunlight through the mulberry trees and and the cent of the wild lavender in the air. This remarkable beach gets even better on a low tide as you are then able to access further secret beaches of equal beauty. Just turn left out of our gate, left at the old red car and follow the path down the valley.
From our location we can access a further 50 or so of Portugal's best beaches, all within about an hours drive. We have four beaches on the south coast within walking distance from us and the west coast is just a 10 minute drive. The geography of this place really does give us unbelievable options for lazy hot beach days, epic surf days or long coastal hikes or bike rides.
The south coast is dotted with golden sand and rocky bays with hidden caves and crystal clear waters that can have a Mediterranean feel in summer. In the winter they come alive as some of Portugal's most beautiful and hidden surf spots with regular off shore winds and numerous options of wave type and size.
The wild west coast offers vast, dramatic views, endless rolling waves and beaches so large that if you venture off the beaten track you can always find an empty surf spot and a beach to yourself. Some of Portugal's and indeed Europe's most classic surf breaks are located on this section of the west coast.
Many surf schools operate in the area but we have teamed up with one of the longest running and locally owned who pick up and drop off at our gates. They not only offer surf lessons but also fantastic stand-up-paddle tours trough the secret, undiscovered caves of the south-west Algarve coast. All lessons and tours can be booked directly with us before or during your stay.
