Travelling from Lisbon

By bus:

There are three coach operators who provide regular Lisbon to Lagos bus services: Rede Expresso is Portugal’s main intercity coach company, Renex operates limited specific routes, and Eva is the regional bus operator of the Algarve.

All three companies offer very similar services, follow the same routes and have comparable prices. The average journey time between Lisbon and Lagos is just over 4 hours.  An adult return ticket between Lagos and Lisbon costs €36.00, while an adult single costs €19.50. From Lagos bus station the bus to Figueira will take around 45 minutes.

By train:

The Lisbon to Faro route tickets must be pre-booked either from a train station or from the CP website (www.CP.pt).  The Alfa Pendular trains provide a good level of comfort, free Wi-Fi and a buffet service.  The town of Tunes is the connection for the regional train service to Lagos.

The average journey time between Lisbon and Lagos is 4 hours and 30 minutes. On an average weekday, there are are 4 trains trains per day travelling from Lisbonto Lagos. The journey time may be longer on weekends and holidays.

From Lagos train station, cross the foot bridge into town and you will imediatly find the bus station. From here you can take the bus to Figueira which takes around 45 minutes.

By car:

The A2 toll road is very good and usually very quiet. The cost is around €17 and takes around 3 hours. Once you arrive in the Algarve follow signs for A22 Lagos and then N125 Villa do Bispo. Figueira is just off to the left of the N125 about 15 minutes west of Lagos.

If you have time to spare then the coastal route is far more interesting and scenic with many beautiful beaches and pretty villages, such as Odeceixe to see along the way. However, the roads are not such good quality and it will take you at least 1 hour more.

Safe travels....
