For us this part of the season is very magical. Not only because everything has slowed down after a busy summer season but also due to the fresh mornings, green landscape, empty beaches and the calm energy that allows us to take time to slow down.
We created Casa Meranka’s Retreat Yourself season not only to slow down, reflect and recharge but also to explore, discover and express ourselves.
We offer a home from home experience in beautiful surroundings and abundant nature. Space for yourself to feel into your own needs. Enjoy hiking over the hills, reading, writing, painting, a surf, join a workshop or simply just be…
Included are weekly yoga and meditation sessions to support you in coming into the body and to help create the space to feel into you own needs.
Stay for a week or settle in for a month at Casa Meranka with your own space, at your own pace. Just minutes from the beach, Casa Meranka is located in the heart of Figueira. A characterful village with local cafes and restaurants and just a short walk down a winding path to one of the most stunning beaches on the south coast of Portugal.

Summer Guest House
June - December
Nestled amongst the charming village of Figueira, just a 15 minute beautiful winding walk from one of the areas most stunning beaches the oasis that is Casa Meranka sits gracefully. Within the pink walls, there are four charming cottages and one larger house, ideal for friends and families, all surrounded with luscious, green courtyards. Discover cosy, characterful lounge areas, two large bbq spots to cook your locally sourced and grown food from the market and your own outside dining area to eat alfresco for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After all, this is all what being on holiday is all about. Spend mornings exploring the expansive coastline and afternoons relaxing in the Algarvian sunshine with regular cooling dips in our six meter fresh water pool.
The combination of birdsong, green plant life, fruit trees and abundance of fresh herbs, Casa Meranka has the ingredients to invite you to slow down, recharge yourself and enjoy the local lifestyle.

The Dream Setting
Casa Meranka began life as a guesthouse back in the 1980's but in recent years had been left empty until we were able to take it on in early 2015. The plan was not just for a unique guesthouse but also to establish our family home and to keep growing as we grow alongside it.
The creative juices began to flow and with passion and love the never ending task of creating a new look and feel to this remarkable property had begun. And now, after all these years we can say that we have touched every corner and the place really feels like an extension of ourselves.
Shortly after taking on the project, we came to realise that this little spot in the south west of Portugal could give us all of the ingredients that we were looking for in life and how special would it be for us, is if we could share them with others.
And to this day, Casa Meranka has been a very special home for many holiday and retreat guests and many beautiful memories have been made.
This place is truly magical, you really feel Joshuas & Margo’s soul in every bit of it. If you are looking for a chilled and unique place to stay then go for it. There is also an amazing beach just a short walk away.
